Not Now Dana

It all started with a shortage of burgers.


“Matt, we need more burgers.”
“Yeah, NOT NOW DANA!”
And so it began.


Now, the question is, why are we so obsessed with this one line? With this ONE character? We barely know anything about her, and yet, we are extremely fascinated by her. I believe that the reason we are so interested in Dana is because, well, you can pretty much put her in any situation.

  • Damon biting Elena, Dana walking up asking for more burgers, “NOT NOW DANA!”
  • Stefan chugging all that blood while Klaus watches, Dana walks in asking for more burgers… “NOT NOW DANA!”
  • Sacrifice ritual, Dana walks in asking for MORE burgers, “NOT. NOW. DANA!”
The possibilities are endless.

I’m also very curious about her background. What came into making of “Not Now Dana?” As I see it, she has been annoying/interruptive since… well, ever. Her parents are getting it on, when BAM! “NOT NOW DANA!” Is that too dirty?


As Dana was growing up, she craved for attention. Sadly, no one would give it to her. She walked the school halls telling everyone they needed more burgers. The response was always the same, “NOT NOW DANA!”
A truly heartbreaking story, no?
